- 1971-ferrari-365-gtb4-daytona-nart-spider-by-michelotti
By the mid-1970s, the worldwide trend in sports car design had evolved from the curvaceous and flowing shapes of post-war air tunnels to the air-splitting power of aggressive, crisp geometric shapes—what would famously become known as the “wedge” era. Always at the leading edge, Ferrari itself began evolving wedge-shaped designs, while in the United States, Luigi Chinetti, the US importer and North American Racing Team (NART) principal, commissioned his own iterations. In the mid-1970s Chinetti ordered no fewer than five 365 GTB/4 Daytonas to be rebodied by Giovanni Michelotti—each individually built with myriad distinguishing details, but sharing an angular, blade-like shark-nose motif, with a single unwavering beltline from nose to tail. They were, in many senses, the most aggressive Daytonas ever built. Chassis number 14299, the first of three Michelotti Spiders configured for Chinetti to roadgoing specifications, was based on a standard 365 GTB/4 coupe with air conditioning and power steering. It was originally delivered to a favored Chinetti client by the name of Dr. Silva. In the mid-1970s Chinetti took the car back on trade, and in 1976 sent it to Michelotti. It was finished in a unique two-tone livery of dark blue over gray, with an orange-hued leather interior incorporating the original Veglia Borletti gauges, five-spoke alloy wheels, tan soft top, and body-color removable hardtop. Chinetti took delivery of the NART Spider, as he dubbed it, in 1977, and promptly gifted it to his wife, Marion, whose name was emblazoned on the beltline of each door. Three years later he loaned the “Marion Spider” back to Michelotti, who presented it on his stand at the 1980 Turin Motor Show, after which the car was exhibited for two years in the Le Mans Museum at France, followed by a 1984 appearance at the La Baule Concours d’Elegance. By the time that the Spider returned stateside in 1985, Mrs. Chinetti had passed away, and so her husband chose to sell her car. It was acquired by Los Angeles-based dealer Marty Yacobian, who presented it at the Palm Springs Concours d’Elegance in 1986. Yacobian sold the Ferrari in 1990 to a dealer in Florida, from whom it passed to Marv Tonkin, brother of the well-known Ron Tonkin, and finally in 1991 to acclaimed Ferrari collector Jon Shirley. Among the best-known tifosi for decades, Mr. Shirley is well-known for his renowned stable, which for some years included virtually all the great Ferrari models, including the first Ferrari to win Best of Show at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The “Marion Spider” remained part of his collection for 22 years, and late in his ownership was certified by Ferrari Classiche with an Attestation of Historical Interest, an honor bestowed upon cars deemed to possess important competition or show history subsequent to when they were first sold by Ferrari. The same document confirms that the car regains its original 365 GTB/4 chassis and engine, while the gearbox is a replacement stamped by Classiche. In August 2013 the car was acquired by another prominent Ferrari collector, in whose hands it appeared at the Cavallino Classic in January 2014, winning an award for Design Distinction, as well as at several other Eastern events. In this ownership it was not just, as they say, a pretty face, as it also accrued some 3,000 miles of rally use, including in the Copperstate 1000! Finally it was purchased by the consignor, a longtime enthusiast who for decades has gathered some of the most extraordinary Ferraris, in the summer of 2019. A unique glimpse of Michelotti’s interpretation of the famed Daytona and a vision of, literally, the future of Italian design, the “Marion Spider” is steeped in the provenance of the famed Luigi Chinetti and the revered Jon Shirley. With only about 6,000 miles recorded since its 1976 completion, it is sure to draw attention at future events and concours, where its sublime styling will be the head-turner it was at Turin and Le Mans. 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona NART Spider by Michelotti RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series 2
Having covered less than 4000 miles since undergoing a comprehensive restoration, this beautifully presented Jaguar E-type Series 1 is now nicely run-in and ready to be enjoyed by its next owner. Chassis number 888791 was built on 5 June 1963 as a left-hand-drive fixed-head coupé and dispatched to New York on 14 June. It was finished in Opalescent Golden Sand with Tan interior, and its first owner was recorded as being RL Mytincer. Paperwork in the history file shows that the E-type was in Virginia by 1980 and it was still there in 2013. Two years later, it was sold to Northern Jaguar in Harrogate and shipped back across the Atlantic. In January 2016, it then passed to a new owner in south-east England. The Jaguar was in need of a complete rebuild, which took place over the next few years. The E-type was stripped all the way back to a bare shell and the cost of the bodywork restoration alone was more than £40,000. The 3.8-litre six-cylinder engine was rebuilt by renowned specialist Classic Motor Cars in Bridgnorth and the standard four-speed Moss gearbox was replaced by a five-speed unit – a popular and sensible modification among E-type owners. The braking system was also upgraded, as were the cooling system and fuel pump, and a smaller steering wheel was fitted. An immobiliser was installed and the car’s electrical system was converted to negative earth. The interior was fully retrimmed in dark red leather and a right-hand-drive conversion was carried out, and the owner even went to the trouble of putting together a full tool kit. All of the invoices from the rebuild have been retained in the substantial history file, and there is also an extensive photographic record of the work. More than £100,000 was spent on the bodywork, engine, interior and chrome – a total that doesn’t include further expenditure such as the new brakes and wheels. The 3.8-litre Series 1 FHC is one of the most desirable variants from throughout the Jaguar E-type’s long production run, and this car is offered for sale in exceptional condition thanks to its painstaking restoration. With a series of well-chosen modifications, it is now perfectly suited to the sort of fast touring for which the E-type was always intended. MODEL HISTORY Having stunned the motoring world in 1948 with the introduction of the XK 120, Jaguar did it again when it launched the E-type at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show. Beneath its beautifully curvaceous Malcolm Sayer-designed bodywork was a layout that owed much to the Le Mans-winning D-type. That car’s layout of a central monocoque structure with a front subframe for the engine was retained for the E-type, which replaced the D-type’s live rear axle with independent suspension all round. With the marque having pioneered the use of disc brakes in the early 1950s, it came as no surprise that the E-type featured them on all four wheels. The new model was introduced with the 3.8-litre, triple-carburettor, straight-six engine from the outgoing XK 150 S and early road tests produced a sensational top speed of 150mph – at a time when 100mph was still a significant figure. When John Bolster tested a pre-production E-type for Autosport, he wrote that it was ‘capable of whispering along in top gear at 10mph or leaping into its 150mph stride on the brief depression of a pedal. A practical touring car, this… yet it has a sheer beauty of line which easily beats the Italians at their own particular game.’ Production of the roadster and FHC slowly ramped up through 1961, with early cars also scoring some notable competition success. Updates came thick and fast as Jaguar struggled to keep up with demand. In 1962, the ‘flat floors’ were modified in order to provide the driver with more room around the pedals, and in late 1964 the engine was enlarged to 4.2 litres. At the same time, a Jaguar gearbox with synchromesh on all four speeds replaced the previous Moss gearbox. A long-wheelbase 2+2 model was added to the range in 1966, and the heavily revised Series 2 followed in 1968. The V12-engined Series 3 then took the E-type through to the end of its run in 1975, when the model was replaced by the XJ-S. 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 The Classic Motor Hub If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1987 Ford GT40 MK V by Safir Engineering
The Ford GT40 had rightfully earned its place in the history as one of the most successful sports racing cars extant following its victory at Le Mans and domination in international sports car racing throughout the 1960s. The desirability of the model was future proofed and collectors to the current day regard the GT40 as one of the most important and collectible sports cars of all time By the early 1980s Mr Peter Thorp owner of Safir Engineering, a constructor of Formula Three racing cars, was keen to acquire an original GT40 but struggled to find one which led him to contact John Willment, who had retained a large stock of original spares, tools, jigs and drawings back from the days of his involvement with partner John Wyer in the original construction of the cars for Ford Advanced Vehicles “Negotiations with Ford in Dearborn led to agreement that further examples could be built, with Safir continuing the run of chassis numbers from the point of completion, but allowing for a further three ‘original’ chassis to be completed and registered, since Willment was intending to, one day finalise the GT40 build programme by finally constructing the three chassis and boxes of parts he still held in storage. As the final chassis had been ‘GTP/1086’, he retained ‘1087’, ‘1088’ and ‘1089’. The first Safir chassis would therefore be ‘1090’.” – Trevor Legate, Ford GT40, Production & Racing History The team of engineers was assembled from Safir and a number of ex JW Engineering employees in 1980 to construct the Ford sanctioned ‘GT40 Mk V’ programme, a series of forty cars produced between 1980-88, available in various period correct specifications and colours at the customers request. Although Safir received no financial assistance from Ford, they sanctioned the Mark V project and assisted with obtaining certification for road use. Between them, JW Engineering and Safir, it was agreed that these ‘continuation’ cars would be called ‘GT40 Mark V Powered by Ford’, Safir later obtaining the ‘GT40’ trademark Constructed by Safir in 1987 for Lord Beaverbrook and finished in the evocative racing colours of Gulf Oil (Blue/Orange Heritage colours) sponsors of JW Automotive’s 1968 Le Mans-winning Ford GT40, our car is believed to be the sole example of the forty cars Mk V cars finished in these colours. (N.B the Cream stripe is a wrap over the orignal painted orange) Sold via Safir to the previous owner in 1991 and subsequently exported to Hong Kong where it would remain in 2006 before returning to the UK for a comprehensive restoration by highly respected Ashton Keynes Vintage Restorations Ltd with invoices on file in excess of GBP 114,000 Having covered a mere 3000 miles since the restoration, this GT40 Mk5 is still fitted with its original 302ci Ford V8 engine built leading GT40 and competition V8 engine specialists, Mathwall Engineering Ltd Offered in excellent condition and used sparingly since the restoration’s completion in 2011, this beautifully finished GT40 is accompanied with extensive documentation detailing the original build and restoration, supported by numerous invoices, photographs and documents from Safir Engineering and FAV Listed on the Shelby American World Registry and featured within Ronnie Spain’s GT40 book, the Safir Engineering cars are widely considered to be ‘original’ continuation cars with the Ford GT community and were all allocated with GT40 chassis numbers Supplied with V5 UK road registration, this is a seriously exciting car to drive and represents an important part of the history of the mythical GT40 story 1987 Ford GT40 MK V by Safir Engineering Dylan Miles Ltd If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright The Ford GT40 had rightfully earned its place in the history as one of the most successful sports racing cars extant following its victory at Le Mans and domination in international sports car racing throughout the 1960s. (N.B the Cream stripe is a wrap over the orignal painted orange) Sold via Safir to the previous owner in 1991 and subsequently exported to Hong Kong where it would remain in 2006 before returning to the UK for a comprehensive restoration by highly respected Ashton Keynes Vintage Restorations Ltd with invoices on file in excess of GBP 114,000 Having covered a mere 3000 miles since the restoration, this GT40 Mk5 is still fitted with its original 302ci Ford V8 engine built leading GT40 and competition V8 engine specialists, Mathwall Engineering Ltd Offered in excellent condition and used sparingly since the restoration’s completion in 2011, this beautifully finished GT40 is accompanied with extensive documentation detailing the original build and restoration, supported by numerous invoices, photographs and documents from Safir Engineering and FAV Listed on the Shelby American World Registry and featured within Ronnie Spain’s GT40 book, the Safir Engineering cars are widely considered to be ‘original’ continuation cars with the Ford GT community and were all allocated with GT40 chassis numbers Supplied with V5 UK road registration, this is a seriously exciting car to drive and represents an important part of the history of the mythical GT40 story Other Cars from Dylan Miles Ltd 1957-BMW-503-01.png 1957-BMW-503-02.jpg 1957-BMW-503-10.png 1957-BMW-503-01.png 1/10 1957 BMW 503 Dylan Miles Ltd United Kingdom 1964-Aston-Martin-DB5-Convertible-01.jpg 1964-Aston-Martin-DB5-Convertible-02.jpg 1964-Aston-Martin-DB5-Convertible-15.jpg 1964-Aston-Martin-DB5-Convertible-01.jpg 1/15 1964 Aston Martin DB5 Convertible Dylan Miles Ltd United Kingdom 1973-Datsun-240Z-MZR-Roadsports-01.jpg 1973-Datsun-240Z-MZR-Roadsports-02.jpg 1973-Datsun-240Z-MZR-Roadsports-15.jpg 1973-Datsun-240Z-MZR-Roadsports-01.jpg 1/15 1973 Datsun 240Z MZR Roadsports Dylan Miles Ltd United Kingdom Last Featured Cars 1992-Subaru-SVX-01.webp 1992-Subaru-SVX-02.webp 1992-Subaru-SVX-10.webp 1992-Subaru-SVX-01.webp 1/10 1992 Subaru SVX DLS Automobile Germany 1990-Porsche-911-964-Carrera-RS-IROC-Evocation-01.webp 1990-Porsche-911-964-Carrera-RS-IROC-Evocation-02.webp 1990-Porsche-911-964-Carrera-RS-IROC-Evocation-15.webp 1990-Porsche-911-964-Carrera-RS-IROC-Evocation-01.webp 1/15 1990 Porsche 911 964 Carrera RS IROC Evocation Classic Connection United Kingdom 1964-Alfa-Rome-TZ-01.jpg 1964-Alfa-Rome-TZ-02.jpg 1964-Alfa-Rome-TZ-20.jpg 1964-Alfa-Rome-TZ-01.jpg 1/20 1964 Alfa Romeo TZ Oldtimer Galerie International GmbH Switzerland
- 1962 Porsche 356 B 2000 GS Carrera 2
The GT3 of its time There are many iterations of Porsche’s foundational 356, though few are as rare or as exciting to drive as the B 2000 GS Carrera 2. Conceived to homologate engineer Ernst Fuhrmann’s soul-stirring two-litre four-cam Carrera engine for racing, the 356 B 2000 GS was the fastest and most powerful production Porsche road car, boasting 130HP and a top speed in excess of 120mph – considerably higher figures than its 1500cc two-cam counterparts. Despite the hefty price tag of 7,600 US dollars, customers lapped up the new ‘hot’ 356 and Porsche’s order books soon filled up – especially with customers from across the pond in the United States of America. Despite only needing to build 100 examples to satisfy the homologation requirements, Porsche sold a staggering 278 B 2000 GS Carrera 2s. In so many respects, the Carrera 2 is the GT3 of its time. Chassis no. 119534 A beautifully restored yet highly authentic example of the Porsche 356 B 2000 GS Carrera 2, chassis number 119534 was first briefly employed as a factory test vehicle. It left the factory in April of 1962, destined for Paris. It was originally finished in Oslo Blue over a red leatherette and beige corduroy interior. Crucially, it was specified with the ultra-rare factory electronic sunroof and disc brakes on all four corners. The car remained in France for three years before it was returned to the factory and subsequently sold to the United States. It was listed in the Porsche 4-Cam Registry by its California-based owner Terry Massa in 1983. Records show Massa retained chassis number 119534 until 2000, when it passed into the hands of the German 356 authority Dieter Ambrosy and was subsequently returned to its homeland. Ambrosy undertook a two-year ground-up restoration of the car in 2006. The primary goal for the project was preserving originality. Refinished in metallic silver over a black interior, chassis number 119534 was issued with its German registration in August of 2008. In 2014, this Carrera 2 was acquired by a German enthusiast building a remarkable collection of world-class Porsches spanning the marque’s entire history. As the accompanying documentation attests, this 356 has since been fastidiously maintained regardless of cost, carefully stored in the aforementioned collection and enjoyed on several occasions, including on the Schloss Bensberg Supersports Classic Rally in 2017. Telling of its extraordinary condition and quality, chassis number 119534 was also awarded the ‘Best Porsche’ award at the 2018 Masterpieces Concours d’Elegance at Schloss Dyck in Germany. “Chassis number 119534 was awarded the ‘Best Porsche’ award at the 2018 Masterpieces Concours d’Elegance at Schloss Dyck in Germany.” In recent years, the maintenance of this 356 has been entrusted to a respected German marque specialist, most recently in June of 2023, when the overall mileage (since the restoration in 2006) was noted as 3,849km. The odometer currently reads 4,543km. One of the highest-quality 356 B Carrera 2s we have encountered, chassis number 119534 is currently European taxes paid, registered in Germany and located in Monaco. 1962 Porsche 356 B 2000 GS Carrera 2 Girardo & Co. This factory Vantage was ordered by main agents Chapman Spooner on 15th July 1984 to be finished in Suffolk Red coachwork with Magnolia hides piped Burgundy with manual transmission, before it was finally completed and signed off by the Works on 20th September of the same year One of just 52 ‘BBS Vantage’ models, the car was first registered on 1st January 1985 to its original owner Mr S.J.Flood of Cornwall, UK. The second owner is confirmed by a sales invoice retained on file from a specialist dealer ‘Bodycraft’ on 14th September 1988 where it was sold to Mr M.Clarke of Buckinghamshire with mileage noted at 11,600 miles The Vantage would remain within Mr Clarke’s ownership for a further twenty-six years before it was sold to the previous Swiss based collector owner via Hexagon Classics in May 2014. Throughout Mr Clarke’s long term ownership, he accrued just 2800 miles, which is confirmed by an almost complete run of MoT certificates that are shown within the history file, with maintenance records from Chapman Spooner and marque specialist restorers Spray Tec restorations Before the Vantage was exported to Switzerland the bodywork was stripped to bare metal and the car refinished in the highly attractive of Rolls Royce Royal Blue metallic coachwork and also benefitted from a mechanical recommission and the fitment of a stiffer anti roll bar to improve handling and ride quality Enjoyed on high days and holidays during its time in Switzerland by its enthusiastic former keeper, who was a regular attendee of AMOC events, and who used the car on a number of occasions for touring events in Europe, maintained throughout his ownership by Aston Martin Heritage agents Roos Engineering and the owner’s personal mechanic Repatriated to the United Kingdom in December 2021 by Dylan Miles Ltd and subsequently inspected by marque exponents R.S.Williams who confirmed the chassis to be in fine order, following removal of sill covers. All relevant UK taxes were paid at the time of import and the car was re-assigned with its cherished registration ‘ASV 177’ which remains with the car Offered today with just 18,700 miles from new, this remarkably low mileage example presents very well and performs beautifully, as one would expect a car of this mileage to, with a tight and powerful engine, taut and precise handling. - 2000-ferrari-550-maranello-wsr-specification
Finished in Rosso Corsa over Beige Connolly leather and specified with the Fiorano handling pack, carbon bucket seats, four-point racing-style harnesses, plus a leather-trimmed roll cage: to all intents and purposes the Ferrari 550 Maranello offered here is a ‘World Speed Record’ edition made to celebrate the model setting a string of production car average speed records. However, the prized Swedish client that ordered this 550 Maranello was rather disappointed to miss out on one of the original 33 WSRs commissioned. As such, Ferrari swiftly pushed through this extra example. Please note, it does not feature a WSR commemorative plaque in the interior. The factory build record even states: “VERY URGENT CAR !!!!!!”. It was ultimately delivered new via Autoropa of Testvägen on 7 July 2000. Sweden’s sole licenced Ferrari importer continued to service the car through to March 2004, at which time it was logged with 38,002 kilometres. Subsequently acquired by the consigning owner in Finland, this fascinating 550 Maranello benefits from a most recent service in July 2024. Accompanied by its owner’s guides and Warranty Card, the car displayed 62,224 kilometres at the time of cataloguing. 2000 Ferrari 550 Maranello 'WSR Specification' RM Sotheby's If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. The notice and take down procedure is described here: https://www.speedholics.com/copyright Finished in Rosso Corsa over Beige Connolly leather and specified with the Fiorano handling pack, carbon bucket seats, four-point racing-style harnesses, plus a leather-trimmed roll cage: to all intents and purposes the Ferrari 550 Maranello offered here is a ‘World Speed Record’ edition made to celebrate the model setting a string of production car average speed records. Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster 1957 There are forms that cannot be improved. The Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster (W121 B II) is undoubtedly one of those designs whose perfect proportions continue to inspire even half a century after its production ended. - 1969 Ford Escort Mk1 Twin Cam - Ex-Mick Briant
By the time the Escort first came out in 1968, Ford were already firmly wedded to the marketing strategy of 'win on Sunday, sell on Monday' and were keenly aware that they would need a race/rally version to take over from where the mighty Lotus Cortina had left off. To this end, Ford’s Boreham-based competition department had been quietly beavering away on a Lotus-powered Escort that was ready to roll as soon as the standard models hit the showrooms. Called the 'Twin Cam', the hot new Escort immediately excelled on the international race and rally circuits, winning countless events and securing Ford the coveted World Rally Championship manufacturer’s trophy in its first year of production, a feat which it also repeated the following year. Introduced in 1968 in very limited numbers for homologation purposes, the Escort Twin Cam is now one of Ford's most revered cars and still regarded as a formidable road car. Based on a reinforced Type 49 body shell with wider wheel arches, quarter bumpers, uprated suspension and front disc brakes as standard, it was powered by a Lotus-designed, 8-valve twin camshaft head mated to Ford’s 1.5-litre pre-crossflow block bored out to 1,558cc offering 110bhp and 115mph. Only 883 Twin Cam models were made before production ended in 1970 to make way for the BDA-powered RS1600. The car presented here is a very special Twin Cam - NBH 769H was an early production example, bought brand new from the Aylesbury Motor Company in 1969 by Mick Briant – the hugely successful British rally driver who won the Motoring News Championship three times, the BTRDA and the Welsh Championship. Mick has documented his illustrious history in British National Rallying in three books in which NBH 769H features. Mick recounts his exploits in the car with much enthusiasm: 'I don’t recall my actual first outing (in NBH 769H), but my first National event was the January 1970 Rally Bristowe, with Mick Mancy navigating (numerous photos of the pair appear in one of Mick’s book, Do you have to drive like that?) we managed eigth overall out of 150 starters'. Mick went on to endow NBH 769H with an upgraded engine, courtesy of Racing Services of Twickenham, stroking and boring the original block and taking it out to 1,860cc. The engine was dry-sumped, had a steel crank and rods, Cosworth pistons and L1 cams, big valves and some other 'trick' bits. Mick states: 'I don’t recall the actual power output, but it was the best engine possible until the 2-litre alloy-blocked Cosworth BDA become an option'. Mick recalls that NBH 76DH went onto receive the de-rigueur big arches of the time and a colour change to orange (which coined the car the nickname 'The Orange Box'). He did several rounds in the prestigious Motoring News Championship in NBH 769H, always finishing in the top ten and in 1971 Mick won the London Counties Rally Championship in NBH 769H, with Donald Close navigating. The car was renewed in-period and returned to white bodywork with a black bonnet that displayed the ‘Go Perrys’ livery (the Ford dealer in Aylesbury). NBH 769H is listed as 'Escort 1860' (car #40) on the entry list of the 1971 Jim Clark Memorial Rally, in which Mick drove (with Peter Robinson navigating), and of which a photo exists of the car on the start line. In 2017, our vendor (a rally enthusiast, driver and car collector) acquired NBH 769H and entrusted it to master engineer, Andrew Stapley of ASM Classics in Kent, who specialise in restoring some of best classic Fords in the UK. Over some four years, our vendor has invested c.£65,000 in bringing this venerable rally car up to a remarkable standard. So much so, it was invited to be displayed at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2021, where after nearly 50 years apart, Mick Briant and Peter Robinson were reunited with the car, plus some of its navigators, all autographing the inside of the doors (captured in photos and video). ASM's expert attention included a full renewal of the Twin Cam signature paint colour, Ermine White (with black bonnet and in period livery), its big-arch Type 49 shell, its revered Lotus Twin Cam engine (with associated dyno readings), its DCOE Weber carbs, 4-speed gearbox, competition clutch and pressure plate, English axle (with 4.7 diff ratio & LSD), coil sprung front Bilstein suspension, leaf sprung rear, plus the addition of Cibie spotlights and a whole host of mods to make this into a formidable period rally/fast-road car. NBH 769H has only been used sparingly since its complete restoration, residing in our vendor’s private Collection, but notably, it was driven ‘up the hill’ at Shelsley Walsh by our vendor and indeed, one Mick Briant – again, all captured for posterity and provenance. MOT'd and 'match-fit', this is a turn-key classic performance Ford. This really is a special car and deserves to be fully appreciated and enjoyed by a similar enthusiast. - 1961 AC Greyhound - Bristol Engine
The AC Greyhound was introduced at 1959 London Motor Show. It was the second Coupe based on the Ace Roadster but offered 2 + 2 seating. Like the Aceca’s, the Greyhound’s extremely shapely and attractive body was constructed in hand-formed aluminium over a tubular steel framework, while the longer-wheelbase tubular-steel chassis was more substantially built. One notable departure from the Aceca was the bottom-hinged boot lid, replacing the Aceca’s practical hatchback, although this new arrangement did have the advantage of enabling oversize luggage to be carried with the boot open. The result was a well engineered, lightweight, generously equipped and extremely pretty GT car in the best AC tradition, boasting rear passenger accommodation roomier than many ‘2+2’ rivals. Most of the 84 Greyhounds built left the factory in Thames Ditton with the six cylinder Bristol engine fitted. This propelled the car from standstill to 60mph in just over 11 secs and onto a top speed of 110mph. The AC Bristol powered Greyhound offered here at Autostorico is a 1961 matching numbers example finished in Princess Blue with Red leather interior. BEF 2544 (Chassis number) was first registered as 975CLM to Tarpen Engineering Co Ltd, South West London on 8th June 1961. Having passed through five documented owners the car was purchased by its current owner an avid AC fan in 2018. Since then the car has been in regular use and has been maintained to the highest possible standard, with recent works carried out by IN Racing. Supplied with an extensive history file including current V5 registration document, previous MOT’s, numerous invoices and other related material. 1961 AC Greyhound - Bristol Engine Autostorico Partners LLP If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer. - 1954 Aston Martin DB2/4
Factory left-hand drive example with sliding sunroof Retains its matching-numbers original engine Documented by copy of its Aston Martin build sheet and Heritage Trust Certificate Previous long-term ownership of nearly 40 years Mechanically restored by Steel Wings with invoices in excess of $65,000 A unique and highly eligible entrant for the most prestigious rallies Successful Participant in the 2023 Tejas Turismo Hill Country Rally Bespoke Coco Mats, Refinished Wheels and Cosmetic Freshening 2024 Inspection, Scheduled Service and Detailing This delightfully charming DB2/4 is one of 565 Mark I models produced, and is documented by both its Aston Martin build sheet and a copy of its Heritage Trust certificate. A factory left-hand-drive model built for export, chassis number LML/576 was produced on 28 October 1953 in original colors of Sea Green over Beige Connolly hides, and was destined for Belgium in February 1954, where its sale was handled by the Ets. R. Mannes agency. Its build sheet notes that it was fitted with heavy duty shock absorbers and specifies other distinct features such as a kph speedometer, which it still retains today. Its first owner was Andre Pelgrims of Brussels, a member of a prominent local family whose residence, the Maison Pelgrims, exists today as a celebrated art exhibition venue. While few details of its early European history are known, the DB2/4 eventually made its way to the United States. It came into the possession of Lance Sterman of Stockbridge, Massachusetts in the early 1980s, and thus would begin a nearly four decade period of enthusiastic ownership. By 2012, Sterman elected to conduct a comprehensive mechanical overhaul undertaken by the Aston Martin specialists at Steel Wings of Ivyland, Pennsylvania. This work, completed over a five year period from 2012-2017, is documented in receipts amounting to over $65,000. A considerable amount of focus was given to the engine, which was carefully disassembled and rebuilt utilizing a billet crankshaft. Likewise, other systems were rebuilt, serviced, and replaced with the fuel, cooling, braking, and carburetion systems noted as having received attention. With a view towards driving enjoyment and reliability, certain improvements were made including the addition of upgraded front hubs, an electric fan, and an upgraded oil pump. The wiring harness and exhaust system were also replaced. All in all, the mission was to create the ultimate vintage British road rally machine that would fit like an old glove but be backed by a fresh rebuild by one of the most respected names associated with the marque. With the work complete, Sterman was able to participate in the 2018 AMOC Lime Rock Road Rally. The DB2/4 quickly captured the attention of AMOC members due to its unique combination of “as discovered” cosmetic condition in contrast to its rally purpose built mechanicals. More recently, service work has included a new brake master cylinder as well as new wheel cylinders in 2023. LML/576 embodies the 1950s British rally car aesthetic, and represents a rare, sporting, highly eligible choice for some of the most prestigious international collector car events, including the Mille Miglia and the California Mille. As a factory left-hand-drive example still with its original engine and retaining many original features, and with major fettling completed by Steel Wings in recent years, LML/576 is a compelling choice for continued historic event participation, either Stateside or back across the pond. 1954 Aston Martin DB2/4 Driver Source Fine Motorcars If you are interested in the content of this listing, please contact the Dealer.
