To coincide with the silver jubilee of Automobili Lamborghini in 1988, in-house designer Horacio Pagani was tasked with restyling the Countach to create the 25th Anniversary Edition. A raised nose and new front bumper incorporated in vogue strakes to direct cool air to the front brakes. The rear end was updated, too, while the radiator air intakes gained prominent, body-colored vertical slats. The makeover was much more than skin deep: 1977 World Rally champion Sandro Munari extensively developed the chassis to improve handling. Also sporting a refreshed interior—which notably gained electric windows, enhanced sound deadening, and more comfortable seats with power-reclining backs—this celebratory special was launched at the 1988 Monaco Grand Prix, fittingly where the Countach had previously served as the Formula 1 safety car. Only in production for 20 months, just 657 examples rolled out of the factory gates in Sant'Agata Bolognese. However, given the refinements that run throughout, the 25th Anniversary Edition is widely regarded as the best-mannered of all Countach variants from the model’s enduring 17-year lifespan. One element that remained largely untouched, though, was the 60-degree V-12. The 5.2-liter engine was lifted from the LP5000 Quattrovalvole, meaning it delivered circa 420 horsepower via a five-speed, gated manual transmission. All told, it propelled the show-stopping wedge design to a top speed approaching 300 km/h. This final model-year 1990 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary is likely one of the lowest-mileage examples available. Completed at the Sant’Agata Bolognese plant in May 1989, and subsequently delivered new to the United States in the classic color combination of Rosso Siviglia (PPG 215157) over Champagne leather with red piping, this special “time capsule” Countach indicates 1,532 kilometers (~ 952 miles) from new at the time of cataloguing. Sold new to Wallace J. Sulentic, it is believed that the car was specially ordered without the optional rear wing, a fact bolstered by a piece of correspondence on file in which Sulentic states, “I want a car without a rear wing… I want a car exactly as it came from the factory.” The Lamborghini remained on its Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin (MSO) and unregistered until 1996, when it was sold to a physician in California. Kept within the doctor’s collection for nearly 20 years, the vehicle was sparingly used during this time. In 2014, it was sold again and entered a private collection in Ohio. The current owner acquired the car in 2023. An invoice on file dated June 2025 confirms the Lamborghini received new fluids and filters along with a show-quality detail. The Lamborghini is additionally accompanied by a range of documentation including owner’s manuals, a brochure, and invoices, as well as a tool kit. With so few kilometers on the odometer, it is hard to imagine a more appealing example than this 25th Anniversary Edition time capsule.
