UD 1S 22983 was completed June 12, 1973 and dispatched on the 6th of August - distributed through British Leyland Motors, New York in Dark Blue paint over French Blue leather upholstery, as verified by Jaguar Heritage Trust. In addition to its livery, this striking E-Type came ideally optioned and fully equipped with air conditioning, British Leyland AM/FM radio, leather seating, manual transmission, along with a factory hardtop that was later color-matched. Upon his acquisition in 1988 at 31,500 miles, the Roadster's previous long-term caretaker showed and displayed the vehicle at a number of events early on, as noted by awarded plaques. It was subsequently driven on occasion, serviced as needed, and eventually resided to longer bouts of garage storage. A binder of proceeding invoices, records and receipts from 1988-Present accompany. With just 38,000 miles currently on the odometer, UD1S22983 was uncovered from its resting in 2020 and brought to our facility here in Houston, TX, where it was assessed before receiving an extensive detail and transfer of ownership to enthusiast care in Coral Gables, Florida. This Series III would then receive a mechanical recommission and tune-up, including all fluids, filters and consumable items addressed. Followed by cabin reupholstery, soft top and boot cover, new chrome wheels, and early slim bumpers, tires/tubes, light lenes, stainless exhaust, uprated radiator and cooling fans, and more. The exterior's glossy paint appears largely original – with exception to a lightly repainted front bonnet. Very thin and consistent paint meter readings support. Importantly, a Dark Blue color-matched hardtop offers multiple top variations and a highly desired factory option. Its interior cabin comes well equipped with an original British Leyland radio, factory air conditioning, manual transmission, and striking colors. Motolita steering wheel and Amco shift knob are fitted. UD1S22983 retains its original engine, number 7S12333LB. The Roadster starts, runs and drives with consistent engine compression across all twelve cylinders. The SIII's undercarriage remains very solid and intact, with excellent floors displaying original spot welds, drain holes and seams. It appears preventative undercoating was applied across the bottom and into the wheel wells. Offered for worldwide purchase and delivery from our Houston, Texas showroom, this notably honest, highly equipped, complete, and well-preserved Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 OTS is one of the finest examples of the marque that we have offered.
