This BMW 3.0 CSL is a fine example of the marque’s iconic lightweight coupe, originally developed for homologation with a 3,003cc engine producing 206bhp in road trim, while racing versions delivered well over 300bhp. By 1973, capacity had increased to 3,153cc, and the model became synonymous with the famed “Batmobile” aerodynamic package. The car was discovered during a family drive in 1986 at a small garage near Poole, Dorset, and it was quickly purchased and then restored the following year. It has been in single ownership since then. It’s been carefully maintained and lightly used, covering around 500 miles per year. This CSL has mainly been enjoyed on classic car runs, shows, and occasional family outings. When the car wasn’t being used, it was stored in a dry, heated garage. Maintenance is well documented, with receipts on file and components replaced including the radiator, heater matrix, brake calipers, rear shock absorbers and more. The wheels are original and have been refurbished. The history file is made up of old tax discs, MOT certificates, handbooks, invoices and more. The original rear spoiler and front splitter are included, along with the handbook, tools, jack, Becker Monte Carlo stereo, spare wheel and more.
